Hurghada International Airport is the international airport of Hurghada in Egypt.
Location: It is located inland, 5 km (3.1 mi) southwest of El Dahar, the downtown of Hurghada.
It is the second busiest airport in Egypt after Cairo International Airport and an important destination for leisure flights mainly from Europe.
It serves Hurghada, the center of the Red Sea Governorate of Egypt,
seaport city Safaga and a lot of amazing Red Sea beaches and aquatic sports resorts: Al Quseir, Sharm El Naga, El Gouna, Al-Mahmya, Soma Bay, and Makadi Bay.
The airport currently has two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Construction of the new terminal complex cost $335 million, which was mainly financed by the Arab Fund for Economic Development.
Egypt's aviation minister, Houssam Kamal, said that the airport would be able to host up to 13 million visitors annually. The project was inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on December 17, 2014.
The new terminal has a total area of 92,000 square meters on three levels. The departure hall has 72 check-in counters and 20 departure gates.
More than 40 airlines perform seasonable charter flights to cities in Western and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, and the CIS countries.
Nowadays the airport has undergone massive renovations to accommodate dramatically rising leisure traffic.
Passenger Services: There are two terminals in Hurghada airport and car parking is located just outside the terminal. It is possible to get to the city or the hotels by taxi or public transport (minibusses).
In the terminal, there is the various infrastructure necessary for the satisfaction of requirements of taking off and arriving passengers: restaurants and cafes, phones and post office, shops for souvenirs and essential commodities, a left-luggage office, the VIP lounge, car rental office.
