Alex Lang, a 27-year-old paraglider from Atlanta, described the experience as surreal. "At first, I was shocked, but the dog seemed like the king of the pyramid, running back and forth," he said. "It looked like it was trying to scare away birds as if it owned the view."
Marshall Mosher, who organized the paragliding event, had flown over the pyramids many times but never saw a dog this high. "Stray dogs usually hang out near the base of the Pyramid of Khafre," he noted. "If I were a street dog in Cairo, I'd probably want to climb the pyramids too."
Social media quickly embraced the story. One Instagram user joked the dog might be the reincarnation of Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god with a dog's head. Another post on X read, "A dog climbing a historic landmark just to bark at birds—animals are simple yet profound."
Footage later showed a similar dog descending from the pyramid. The dog had disappeared when Lang and his team flew over again.
