Egypt, Tourism Minister Inspects New Archaeological Discovery in Saqqara

Egypt, The Egyptian archaeological mission working at the Saqqara site has made a remarkable discovery of a new burial shaft filled with many ancient treasures. The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, visited the site to see the findings and encourage the mission’s work. He was accompanied by Mustafa Waziri, the head of the mission and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and other officials and experts.

The minister entered the burial shaft and saw wooden coffins, mummies of different sizes, and various archaeological artifacts. He listened to Mustafa Waziri’s explanation of the mission’s progress since they started digging in August. The discovery reveals more secrets about the history and culture of ancient Egypt.

The new burial shaft discovered by the Egyptian archaeological mission at the Saqqara site is a treasure trove of ancient artifacts, coffins, and mummies. The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, inspected the site and praised the mission’s work. He was joined by Mustafa Waziri, the leader of the mission and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and other authorities and specialists.

The minister explored the burial shaft and witnessed the amazing findings, including wooden coffins, various mummies, and different archaeological objects. He heard from Mustafa Waziri about the mission’s achievements since they began excavating in August. The discovery sheds more light on the ancient Egyptian civilization and culture.

Ahmed Issa also met with the mission’s staff, including archaeologists and conservators, and talked about the Supreme Council of Antiquities’ role as a scientific institution that safeguards Egypt’s cultural heritage for future generations.

He listened to their views and recommendations for improving archaeological work. He thanked them for their remarkable efforts, which have resulted in many archaeological discoveries and restoration projects over the past years.

At the end of the visit, the minister and the mission’s members took a group photo together.

The Egyptian archaeological mission has made several significant discoveries in recent years, such as finding hundreds of colorful human coffins with well-preserved mummies of high-ranking officials and priests from the 26th Dynasty, which was chosen as one of the top 10 archaeological discoveries of 2020 by “Archaeology Magazine.”

Other discoveries include the First, Second, and Third Ministerial Burial Cache, the most extensive collection of bronze statues, cosmetic tools, and animal mummies, such as cats, lion cubs, and crocodiles.
